Jef De Gruyter

JDGJef De Gruyter has been working for the Christian Sickness Fund, one of the most important sickness funds in Belgium, since 1980. For the last five years he has been responsible for leading the Healthcare Inspection Service at national level. In this capacity he and his team aim to improve quality standards for processing healthcare throughout the organisation. Before this appointment, he was responsible for Medical Administration, working closely with the Medical Directorate and all Regional Offices of the sickness funds. Before that, he worked for the sickness fund at regional level and led among other appointments the regional healthcare service.

His present work involves partnering with other inspection and audit services within the Christian Sickness Fund, with other Belgian sickness funds and with the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI/RIZIV), in order to fight healthcare fraud and corruption in Belgium. Since 2005 they have become increasingly aware of the importance of a European approach and of joining up in the battle against healthcare fraud and corruption with all the other members of the EHFCN network. Jef has attended EHFCN meetings and conferences since its foundation; he has been elected Ordinary Members in April 2009 and is committed to “make it work”!
