Patients can also participate in fraudulent activities or behaviour. Examples include:

• Patient declaring they have a lower wage or salary in order to receive free or discounted healthcare.

• Patients failing to declare a change in circumstance, such as employment, in order to continue receiving free or discounted healthcare. 

• People creating multiple identities in order to receive numerous prescriptions of free or discounted prescription medication.

• Patients using their free or discounted healthcare provision to obtain prescription medicine or healthcare for people who are not entitled to it.

•  Patients using their right to free or discounted healthcare to obtain prescription medication that they then sell on.
