Brussels commends Dutch approach of counter-fraud management
16 November 2009 – At a European Affairs Expert Panel of the International Association of Mutual Benefits Societies (AIM) which took place in Brussels, the Dutch delegation presented the methods used by Zorgverzekeraars Nederland (ZN) and their members on counter-fraud management. Several countries have shown interest in the Dutch approach.
The objective of the presentation was to explore the possibilities for international co-operation between ZN and AIM and their members on counter-fraud management, with the intention to establish a first exploratory meeting with interested AIM members and share case studies on counter-fraud management.
On behalf of ZN, Loubna Boufrach (department of counter-fraud management) presented the methods used by health insurers in The Netherlands. The department is developing a knowledge centre for counter-fraud management, which is expected to be launched mid 2010. Boufrach mentioned the positive experience ZN had co-operating with other countries and the European Healthcare Fraud & Corruption Network (EHFCN) at operational and policy level.
According to Boufrach, the international co-operation could be of great added value, especially because of the resemblance in organisation structure of most AIM members. There have been positive reactions towards the Dutch vision.
