EHFCN Newsletter

September - October 2009

Dear Reader

With just a few weeks to the EHFCN 6th Annual Conference in Edinburgh, Scotland, 6-7 October 2009 we have devoted this issue of the EHFCN newsletter to the ongoing work of our members and friends in Scotland as they share their insights into the detection and investigation of  fraud and corruption in the Scottish healthcare system.

We are happy to start with Ms Nicola Sturgeon's welcoming message. Ms Sturgeon is Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing, Scottish Government.

“In Scotland, we believe in fighting healthcare fraud as vigorously as possible.

The attached articles will give EHFCN members a picture of some of the activities which are underway in our country to tackle fraud against and within our national health service.

I look forward to welcoming EHFCN members to Scotland in October. Until then, I hope that you will enjoy reading these articles.  Besides increasing your background knowledge of the Scottish approach to fraud, they may provide you with some ideas to consider on combating healthcare fraud in your own country.”
